How to download a Google Sheet

Three steps. Takes less than 10 seconds. No Google account needed.

1

Open your Google Sheet and copy the URL

Go to the Google Sheet you want to download. Make sure sharing is set to Anyone with the link can view (Share → change access). Copy the full URL from your browser — it looks like:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/YOUR_SHEET_ID/edit

2

Paste the URL and choose your format

Go to SheetsBox, paste the URL into the input field, then select XLSX, CSV, PDF, or ODS depending on what you need.

3

Click Download — file is ready instantly

Hit the blue Download button. Your browser will immediately start downloading the file to your downloads folder. Done.

Frequently asked questions

Does the sheet need to be public?

Yes. The sheet must be set to "Anyone with the link can view." Private sheets require a Google sign-in which SheetsBox doesn't handle.

Is SheetsBox really free?

Yes, completely. No account, no payment, no usage limits. Use it as many times as you like.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Works on Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge — on both desktop and mobile.

Can I download a specific tab?

Yes. Copy the URL while that tab is open — it will include a gid= parameter — and SheetsBox will download just that tab.

Is SheetsBox affiliated with Google?

No. SheetsBox is a fully independent tool. Google Sheets™ is a trademark of Google LLC. Learn more →
