Download any Google Sheet from a link in 4 simple steps β as Excel, CSV, PDF, or ODS. Takes under 30 seconds. No Google account needed.
Go to SheetsBox.com, paste the public Google Sheets URL, pick your format, and click Download. No account, no sign-in, no email required. The sheet just needs to be set to "Anyone with the link can view."
Open the Google Sheet in your browser. Make sure sharing is set to Anyone with the link can view (Share β General access β change access). Copy the full URL from the address bar β it looks like:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/YOUR_SHEET_ID/edit
Visit sheetsbox.com and paste the URL into the input field. You can also tap the Paste button to paste directly from your clipboard.
Click one of the four format buttons: XLSX (Excel), CSV, PDF, or ODS. XLSX is selected by default and works for most use cases. See the format table below if you're unsure.
Hit the blue Download button. Your file downloads immediately to your device β no confirmation emails, no account creation, nothing. Check your downloads folder.
If the sheet has multiple tabs, SheetsBox downloads whichever tab is active in the URL. To download a specific one:
At the bottom of the sheet, click the specific tab (worksheet) you want to download.
The address bar will update to include a gid= parameter (e.g. ?gid=1234567890) that identifies the tab. Copy this updated URL.
Paste the updated URL into SheetsBox. It reads the gid= automatically and downloads only that tab.
| Format | Best for | Opens in |
|---|---|---|
| XLSX | Editing, formulas, sharing with Excel users | Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice |
| CSV | Raw data, databases, scripts, Power BI, APIs | Any spreadsheet app, code editors |
| Printing, read-only sharing, archiving | Any PDF reader or browser | |
| ODS | Open-source workflows, LibreOffice users | LibreOffice Calc, Google Sheets |
Yes. The sheet must be set to "Anyone with the link can view." Private sheets require a Google sign-in, which SheetsBox doesn't handle. If you own the sheet, go to Share β General access β Anyone with the link.
Yes, completely. No account, no payment, no usage limits. Use it as many times as you like.
No. SheetsBox never stores, views, or transmits your data. When you click Download, your browser connects directly to Google's export servers β we are never in the middle of that connection.
Yes. Click the tab you want in Google Sheets, copy the URL (it will include a gid= parameter), and paste it into SheetsBox. Only that tab will download.
The most common reason is the sheet is private. The owner must change sharing to "Anyone with the link can view." Also make sure you copied the full URL from the browser address bar. See our full troubleshooting guide β
